about TWIN CITIES ADAPTIVE CYCLING

MISSION

The Twin Cities Adaptive Cycling Program is a 501c3 non-profit working to increase participation and access to cycling among individuals with disabilities.

WHAT IS ADAPTIVE CYCLING?

Adaptive Cycling means to modify or adapt a cycle in order to fit an individuals needs and abilities.  Adaptive Cycling is a sport that recognizes and respects that not all individuals are able to ride a two-wheel cycle.  Common styles of adaptive cycles include:

  • Handcycles for riders with  limited or no lower extremity mobility
  • Recumbent Foot Tricycles for riders with balance or upper extremity mobility limitations
  • Tandems for riders who may have a visual or auditory impairment, cognitive deficit, or limited strength

            TCAC DROP-IN PROGRAM

At TCAC, riders will be able to drop-in to our programs location on the Greenway at anytime during open hours. New riders will be evaluated one-on-one by our knowledgable staff to determine which style of cycle will be most appropriate.

Riders will be oriented and instructed by staff members on safe operation of the selected cycle.  Once trained, participants can use our cycles either independently or in a group setting, if further support is needed.

  • Youth 18 and under must always be accompanied by a parent or guardian
  • Family members, friends, or caregivers are encouraged to attend, and bring their own bicycles

*Please contact us before you come down to make sure we have a cycle available for you
