Why TCAC is so important for our community

Today more than 75,000 individuals in the Twin Cities, or nearly 11% of the population, live with a disability that limits their mobility and exercise choices.  Individuals with disabilities are more likely to be physically inactive and socially isolated. Adaptive cycling allows individuals living with a disability to be outdoors in their community, experience increased mobility, and improve strength and cardiovascular fitness. Cycling also provides opportunities to socialize with others and can increase feelings of self-worth and autonomy

You helped us explore the idea that I could bike again after two heart attacks and losing the use of my right hand and arm...I’m getting much needed exercise doing something I thought I would never be able to do again. And we’re having so much fun!

How your donation helps

Your donation today will help support our work to increase access to cycling among youth and adults with disabilities, and promote inclusivity and diversity on our Twin Cities biking trails.  More specifically, your donation will help expand our fleet of adaptive cycles, purchase adaptive equipment, expand youth programing and ridership, and support daily program operations.

As Jared’s wife, it was painful to see his discouragement from not feeling able to participate in the sports that he loves. When we learned of TCAC, we learned that Jared could get a part of his life back. TCAC helped us get outside, get moving, and enjoy quality time together.

Thanks to Twin Cities Adaptive Cycling I am able to stay on a legitimate an exercise regimen that allows me to be outside in the fresh air, experience the Greenway and the great City Lakes that Minneapolis has to offer...It was great to be able to ride a bike again!
